Harvard Top 5 Plays – Jan. 28

February 5, 2020

These are your Harvard University
Top 5 Plays of the Week, presented by GEICO. At number five,
Women’s Waterpolo. With one minute remaining
in the third quarter, sophomore Evan Tingler fired a pass to fellow
sophomore Borden Wahl in front of the net. Wahl beat the Iona goalie with
a defender draper over her shoulder and put the Crimson
up 8-2 in the match. Harvard would eventually take the
10-4 victory to move to 2-0 on the season. At number four,
Women’s Tennis. Up 3-1 in the second set
against her Quinnipiac opponent, first-year Sophia Ho was locked in a back and forth
while working her way up to the front of the net. When her Bobcat opponent
tried to sneak it past her left side, Ho lunged with her backhand to get a racket
on the ball and thread it past her opponent. Ho went on to win the match in straight sets to
help the Crimson to its first victory of the season. At number three,
Men’s Tennis. With BYU up 1-0 in the match, first-year
Ronan Jachuck rallies with his opponent before dropping a volley with a wicked spin at the
net to go up 40-15 in the sixth game of the second set. Jachuck would go on to win the match
6-2, 6-1, bringing it to a one-all tie. The Crimson would eventually defeat
BYU 4-3 to move to 3-0 on the season. At number two,
Men’s Ice Hockey. In a scoreless tie late in the
third period at No. 1 Cornell, sophomore forward Casey Dornbach finds
classmate Jack Drury all alone in the slot for a dramatic goal to give Harvard a 1-0
lead in front of a hostile crowd at Lynah Rink. The goal was Drury’s team-
leading 11th of the season. The Crimson and Big Red would
go on to skate to a 1-1 tie. At number one,
Women’s Basketball. Leading Dartmouth 27-21 with
time expiring in the second quarter, Sara Park found Lola Mullaney on
the wing for a WNBA-range three pointer. Mullaney went on to
record four triples and 18 points in the Crimson’s
64-49 win over the Big Green. That’s it for this week’s top 5 plays.
