pro in 2004 but was beset by injuries, including her shoulders and knees. So she did what most
people do, she went back to school and got her PhD in sports science! She returned to
the WTA pro circuit in 2017 and has since made around $1.5 million dollars in prize
money. The lefty got on many people’92s radars when, at the French Open she beat Elina Svitolina
in the third round, one of the tournaments biggest upsets.

since the age of three, Buzarnescu finally achieved her dream of being a top 20 player
when she beat Sakkari to win the Silicon Valley Classic in San Jose last year. Congrats doctor!

focused an injury-free to maintain her top 20 status in 2019? We certainly hope so! Will
her advanced degree in sports science make her more competitive on the court and off?
Absolutely. Here’92s to you Mihaela, hope to see you on many more final courts this
year! f1fs24
