Tennis: 2017 Wimbledon Futures Odds

October 20, 2019

The third major of the tennis season is right
around the corner and it’s the old guard that’s dominating the conversation as we
head through the gates at the Old England Club. Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal were the winners
at the Aussie and French Open respectively and with the two rivals seeded 3rd and 4th
for Wimbledon, there’s a chance we see them match up in yet another Grand Slam final. Federer, who’s won the tournament an incredible
7 times in his career, comes in with fresh legs as the +200 favorite. Rog spared himself the wear-and-tear of the
clay court season to prepare for grass and if his showings at the Wimbledon warm-ups
are any indication, he’s more than ready for the occasion. Although it’s been a five-year stretch since
Federer last won the Slam, he has to be considered for this year’s competition. His performance at the Aussie Open in January
showed what the 35-year-old is still capable of and I’m a sucker for a comeback story. Behind the fave sits the top-seeded and world
No. 1 ranked tennis player Andy Murray at +350. The defending champion of the oldest tennis
tournament in the world had an injury scare last week but has assured the media he’ll
be fit for play come Monday. Rounding out the top five on the oddsboard
we have Rafa at 4/1, Novak Djokovic at 6/1 and Milos Raonic at 14/1. The man from Majorca could have the most momentum
of anyone in the field after he ran through his competition at the French but for the
last few years, grass has not been Nadal’s friend. He Hasn’t made it past the fourth round
at Wimbledon since 2011 and his worst career winning percentage at a Grand Slam has been
earned within the walls at the All England club. In the women’s draw, no Serena means parity. Petra Kvitova is the favorite at 5/1 but her
Czech countrywoman, Karolina Pliskova, trails close behind at +550. Garbine Muguruza, Johnna Konta and Venus Williams
are all top five candidates as well according to the odds with the No. 1 and No. 2 seeded
Angelique Kerber and Simona Halep being offered at respective 14/1 and 20/1 prices. For your full preview of the Championships
at Wimbledon, head over to and click the tennis tab where you’ll also find
match previews, betting odds and expert picks. Thanks for tuning in, good luck on the grass.
