The Perfect Strawberry

December 31, 2019

When we’re picking for Wimbledon we start at first light. We walk our crops obsessively. We go up and down the rows. We look at every plant. It’s still quite difficult to time something so it’s absolutely at the peak of perfection when you want it. No summer is the same as another. I’m very conscious of the fact that every berry that we send to Wimbledon is a bit of an ambassador for the farm because it’s such a high profile event. The really exciting thing is if you can get a strawberry from the plant to the person who’s going to enjoy it within a day. It matters a lot to me. It’s something that I take very seriously.

I've never seen a deal made over strawberries at a major sporting event…so they certainly must be excellent strawberries.

Every strawberry from any south european country is 10 times better than this one. Pure marketing and nothing else. !
